Have I got the best way to passively market or what? Okay. This is how it works: you join this site called Screenblaze for free and once you join up, you get a download for a screensaver, plus you're sent to a page to refer all your friends.
Well, I heard about it from a friend of mine and I asked him how he liked it. As he said, "it's a screensaver so you don't have to click for credits-- you get credits just for running the screen saver." I asked him, "but does anyone actually look at the sites?" He said, "I don't know about others, but I do." I figured, it's free, so why not?
As soon as it started running, I decided I liked it. There's a toolbar that appears at the top of the screen that allows the user several options. Beside basic functions like testing your site, reporting a site and a login tab, it also allows viewers to save a url to the site currently shown-- something too many traffic exchanges "forget." (ahem!)
The best thing is that, when you stop to do something-- you're still working! You can leave it on all night, when you go to lunch, or dinner and you know you're still marketing. :)
I don't know if they plan a pro version or if it's just a give-away (they offer several other marketing tools, too, some of which cost money but all of which are optional) to bring in traffic. But I do know it works-- and no spyware or other add-ons to worry about. Check it out!--mo
