Splash pages can be an affiliate marketer's best friend.
What is a splash page? It's a single webpage, with all links leading to an affiliate page that is out of their control.
Though some programs offer no more than an identifying link, most affiliate systems actually create a unique page for each affiliate that signs up. Before being impressed with this, however, it should be understood that this is only a matter of copying a basic page and altering the identifying links. Really, it's just a fancy way of doing essentially the same thing with the simple, identifying link, only more so. And, since it's easy to do a "universal find/replace" that's not saying much.
Because, the fact is, in both cases, a marketer's hands are tied as far as what they may add to enhance their page. Companies, especially well-established companies with reputations and bank rolls to protect, like to control their image. But, frankly, with so many marketers working for them, it makes little difference to them if any one particular marketer is making any sales at all.
And, because of this, many never do.
That's where splash pages make all the difference. With a splash page, a marketer can add all kinds of personalized verbage, exposition and links that will enhance the sales of their actual page. They can add a link exchange, for one thing or, if the actual affiliate page is framed (disqualifying it from many traffic exchanges) a splash page can be created without the frames.
Creating a splash page is not difficult and can be free. A Blog is often used for a splash page. And there are several sites that offer free websites (bravenet.com, for one) that can become a splash page-- and they are generally very easy to create.-- mo
