One reason I called this blog "In a Word" is because that's how fast someone can judge an author and his website when even just ONE wrong word is used. Sad, but true.
Like the whole, "there, their and they're" thing. Almost no one ever get's it right. (Think of it this way: Here or There; possessive (with an "i") their; and they ARE equals they're.)
Recently I've noticed many webpages with the word "an" instead of "and." As in, "the product an the service." Whatever the reason for this -- ignorance or slobbiness -- it is still the kind of thing that will turn away intelligent readers and damage credibility. And, heck, technically speaking, that's only ONE LETTER that's been dropped!
It all comes back to the subject of professionalism and creditiblity. If you care enough about what you're doing, take the time to do it right-- it's well worth it in the long run.--mo
