One of the most important factors of working online or at home is being able to work effectively. Part of that effectivenss, is finding a workable schedule. That is, one that allows time for accomplishing all the important work, as well as time to have a life, too. This is a major goal of my January, Get Organized Campaign. By Feb 1, I want to have a workable schedule.
Case in point: I missed adding an entry yesterday. Actually, I did start one, but I was so tired that I couldn't manage to put together 3 sensible sentences, never mind an entire entry. After trying for over a 1/2 hour, I finally gave up, cancelled the entry and took a 4 hour nap.
Before you think I'm a total slug, you should know that I had gotten up (for God knows WHAT reason) at 2:30 a.m. with the much-mistaken idea that I should try to get some extra work done. This, after working from 8:00 a.m.-8:30 on Wednesday and THAT after working from 8:00p.m.-4:00a.m., as well as my normal 7:00-5:00 schedule on Tuesday. So, by the time I got to 8:30 or so yesterday morning, and was working on my entry, I was pretty much in desperate need of (not to mention, desperately deserving of) some rest.
So. Finding a workable schedule is not only desireable, it's essential for any kind of lasting success. To that end, I've given my schedule much thought, especially in light of this week's events. There are two mottos that keep dancing through my head.
They are:
Slow and Steady, Wins the Race
and
Work Smarter, Not Harder
In order to find a good, workable, manageable schedule, I must first be sure of one thing: what works! That is, what, of all my efforts, returns a real increase in "The Bottom Line". In order to do that, I must find OUT what that is-- I think I know (article marketing), but I'm only guessing.
Luckily, I just discovered the other day that Simpler Leads, on top of all its other perks for premier accounts, has a free ad-tracker built in-- and even welcomes you to use it for more than their auto-responder system. This is awesome. Of course, when I will find time to do more than simply put it on my do-to list, I'm not sure...
But that brings up the Slow & Steady subject. I do believe that consistent, regular work wins out over mad dashes of effort. To that end, since last week I've tried to create/adopt a daily regimen that covers all the most important bases, like this blog.
The only trouble is now, since I have this working schedule, I find, when something special does come up, I make the mad dash ON TOP of the schedule. So my first attempt at creating a realistically doable schedule has proven itself to be, truly, a Work In Progress more or less. Hmmm... but, then again, so am I.
