OPFM has delayed their flip. Which, honestly, doesn't surprise me, although not for the reasons some might expect. It doesn't surprise ME because this is a brand new company, trying an entirely revolutionary experiment in online marketing. . . so, a certain amount of unforeseen events are bound to happen.
I, personally, expected it because I've been around enough to know how these things work. At the risk of tooting my own horn, please know this about me: I belong to a relatively small, elite group of people, i.e., those who have been working on computers since the early 1980's, both as a programmer and an end-user.
Also, via an intra-net system, I have been working online since 1983 and I have been privately on the internet since 1988 or so, right after Prodigy came out. So, I'm one of the few people old enough yet up to date enough to have some perspective. Heck, I remember when Micro-Soft first came out-- finally! (IT had delays of more than a year-- hah!) Not to mention the debacle that brought down Word Perfect because they rushed the 6.0 version to the market-- it was a disaster of biblical proportions (well, within the computer industry, anyway) and it provided Micro-Soft with a "window" (ahem-- can't resist the pun) of opportunity to bring out their so called "irresistable Office package" and, thereby, take over the whole business software industry, decimating both Word Perfect and Lotus 1-2-3 (remember that?) in the process.
The real crime of course, was that Word is a horrible word processing package compared to what Word Perfect was (ironically enough, it has since cloned itself into another Word rip-off) and Excel is a complete rip off of Lotus 1-2-3. The only quasi-original program in the group was PowerPoint and that was probably a rip off of some other, lesser known (and better) presentation program. Even Windows was only one of many Program organizers-- and I thought they were all stupid. Just something to make computers more "user-friendly" for the masses. Hey, it worked.
My point is, I have a little perspective in this business. One that only time, and time alone, can offer. And I'm one of the few that does. I don't mean few in terms of hundred or even thousands. Let me put it this way: I bought my first personal computer in 1984, when people still put together their own (I didn't) and the top of the line was a double disk floppy drive (that's the 5-1/4 in variety) and NO hard drive at all-- oh!, and my printer (top of the line, too) was a "letter quality." More than that, I've kept up with the industry-- for one thing, I can't count how many computers I've bought since my first one. I do know I was on my third by the time I went online at home.
Right. But I digress. The thing is, I know. And the main thing I know right now is that OPFM is completely new and unique-- so it's not surprising that there are kinks to be worked out, delays and problems. This is what happens when you take part in something completely new and unique. And it always will.
But, actually, things are going really well with OPFM. This is only the first time that an actual date was set and then post-poned in this flip. That's a big improvement over the last flip. And, too, the delay is only 2 days-- now the flip date is set for March 2, 2006-- tomorrow. That, too, is a big improvement.
In the first flip, we had 3 delays and the flip date was set a total of 4 times, all of which spanned more than 4 weeks (The original date was 12/18-- the actual was a month later). Still, many people seem to forget that this is an entirely new flip and have voiced frustrations that are completely unreasonable, all things considered. It's true. We have waited over a month for this flip to actually get to a point of having a date. But there have always been very good reasons for that -- and some reasons have been brought on by the members themselves.
For those frustrated OPFMers becoming increasingly disheartened by the delays in Flips, I would like to say 3 things:
1) First off, you KNOW we will eventually flip if, for no other reason, than we have in the past, delays or no.
2) All the delays in this flip were caused by the wish to improve the results over our last flip.
3) Though "flipping" in and of itself is not new, the actual act of flipping on such a massive scale and making it pay well for the majority of the people involved IS. This is an entirely new way of marketing and of using the power of a marketing force so that the average affiliate marketer can earn an excellent income in a short time.
But those new to marketing don't appreciate this. To them, a short time is 2-3 weeks. For those of us who have been slowly, steadily building an online business and are happy after 6 months to have 10-15 people in our downline, OPFM is a dream come true. Within 3 months I have over 50 people under me. And I'm amazed! Yet I have seen OPFMers with twice that amount complain. . . huh? And they started after I did! (Double "huh?")
In my opinion, after the first flip and its dismal results (which I will discuss in detail in a separate post), the management can take all the time it needs before we flip again. They have been much more careful about the program they chose (they changed choices at least once that I know of), and of the whole flip running smoothly.
Also, several delays have been because of the OPFM members themselves-- when a vocal group criticized Thomas' choice of payment processors, for instance, he and the company involved, arranged an entirely new payment method-- just for OPFM members! Apart from the fact that this is completely unprecendented, they also managed this within a week!
Heck they've even been more careful about giving members the name of the company-- which is good. Last time, several unscrupulous and rather stupid OPFM members tried to jump the gun and join ahead of the OPFM group, thinking they would profit by this huge influx of new members-- but they failed to understand the first thing about matrix marketing and, naturally, it back fired on them because the OPFM group is entirely separate from the rest of the company's matrix system. Then they had the nerve to complain. Hah!
Now the flip is set for tomorrow, March 2, 2006. There may be more delays, but I seriously doubt it. There is also tremendous pressure on mgmt to make this happen on time. The thing of it is, there's even more pressure to make it work at all-- if it doesn't?
"Stay tuned. . . "
(P.S. This is a little longer than I like my posts to be. . . sorry.--mo)
