Since I am always looking at new opportunities, I leave all my spam filters down and read all the offers that come my way. Just a few minutes ago I actually got an offer that said,
Hi!
I don't know what this is, but it's in pre-lunch (that's right) and it's
free, so why not sign up.
Just for the heck of it, I looked at the page-- it was just a sign up page. . . no information, nothing. And it had a cloaked url. . . (anything from tinyurl is cloaked). All of this spells trouble to me. Either the "free pre-lunch" is simply a blatant attempt to gain email address information, or it could be something worse-- who knows.
I don't, because I'm not going any further. Sorry. I like my website. And I've had to give up enough email addresses already because of spam-- no thanks.
But what really gets me is the feigned stupidity of the sender. "I don't even know what this is." Hey, it could be the next big virus, but "I don't know."
Okay. . . so we're long past intelligent emails. . . can we at least try to maintain something above moronic?--mo
