Okay. I feel like a little-old-lady admitting to this. You know what I mean. One of those people (little old men can be just as guilty) who seem to have nothing better to do than go around sending off emails all the time.
Well, I do. Whenever there's a problem with a website, I send a note to the webmaster or whatever contact I can find. I'm not trying to be a little old lady, honest. (Is this something that just creeps up on you?) But it is encouraging when I see that those emails ARE read. Well, sometimes.
A couple of weeks ago, I was "pinging" my blog at PingGoat! and I saw that they have included a verification step in their process. The only problem was, when I followed the steps, submitted the verification and clicked on the link to continue-- I received their "You're pinging too often! Give PingGoat A rest!" message. I tried it several times, always with the same result.
So, as always, I sent them a form mail (contact us page), explaining the problem. The next time I submitted my URL, the verification process had disappeared and I was able to "ping" as usual. It occurred to me that, possibly, my email had been read.
Now, I expect colleagues and small companies to read my emails . But PingGoat! is far from a small company. And I do realize that others most probably reported the same problem. But in this day, when emails seem to be absorbed into the vast myasmia of the internet, it's very refreshing to see an actual result instead!
And, too, I also saw the other day that they have since de-bugged their verification
problems and it seems to be working well. I almost feel like sending them another email-- this one in congratulations.
That, too, is something only little-old-ladies tend to do now-a-days. Come to think of it, if this is kind of behaviour associated with little-old-ladies, I almost don't mind being considered one. :) --mo
