Okay, this one is for the books. For some time now it seems that, in the article marketing arena, there has been quite a lot of "sharing" going on. One article marketing submission area contacts another, wishing to "share" their database of articles. Because of this, I've had no less than three ridiculous situations crop up just in the last week.
ONE: REJECTED? Huh?
I was informed by one submission site that my article was rejected. They went on to state that the reasons for this were: "...please proofread and spell check your article and re-submit it." Oh, really? Since I did, literally, write the article ON proofreading, trust me when I say I DO proofread my articles. But human error being what it is, I went back over it again-- and found nothing wrong with it. (Believe me, I'll get into that whole kettle of fish in another entry!) However, before doing so, I also looked at the sender and noticed this submission site was NOT on my list of places where I submit articles.
...Excuse me? But, WHO asked YOU? Maybe I'm a little thin-skinned, but if I wanted to promote my article on your site, I would have submitted it there. Since I didn't, please don't bother me if you don't choose to use it. In fact I really don't care if you reject it-- it was YOUR choice to upload it to BEGIN WITH!!!!!
TWO: HUH? and double-HUH?
An article submission site webmaster contacted me the other day, telling me that she liked my articles and asked if I would submit them to her site. ???? I responded that, she was welcome to upload them if she wanted to use them but, exactly WHY do I have to further submit them to her? I received no response to that question.
THREE:
I was just contacted by yet another unknown site and TOLD that I have a userid and password with them. Gee. They went ahead and created an account for me, signed me up to their site and everything. Isn't that nice. . . NOT!!
If I WANT to use their site, I will GO to their site. If they want to upload my articles, they may do so -- but, unless they're willing to PAY me for my time, I strongly advise all of them to stop telling ME what I can do!!!!
Of course, I realize these are all just various ways for these submission sites to "attract" authors. And, I suppose I should take their attention as a compliment since (I'd like to think) they don't contact every author that they find. HOWEVER, ONLY HERE, in this insane, upside-down world of online article marketing would an author be offered such ridiculous propositions!
There's even some sites that actually have the GAUL, the TEMERITY to CHARGE authors to promote their articles. HAH!!! As IF!
...(deep breaths)
The fact is, too, that I have been reviewing my submission sites. . . and I am not one bit happy with what I've found. One site I've BEEN submitting to has FIVE (5!) of my articles still waiting for "approval."-- since the beginning of MAY!! And it's NOT the only one!
You know, if any of these submission sites had a clue as to how much time it takes to submit an article to 50-60 or more of these sites, they'd realize how annoying their suggestions are!
But wait!--
I have a BETTER idea: Why don't I just contact all of THEM, offering the link to the page on MY site where they can upload my articles-- and let THEM gather what they wish from ME. Hey, I even have an RSS feed just for that page, so they'd be alerted everytime I upload a new article. THEN, I could stop wasting a whole day or two each week submitting each article and spend the time creating MORE articles.
Hmmm. . . I like that idea.--mo
